Sessional Lecturer – Pottery

Please note that this post is funded for the 2026/27 academic year onwards so the successful candidate would not be expected to commence in post prior to August 2026

The School Adult and Community Education at Merton College is seeking a skilled and experienced professional to deliver high-quality learning opportunities for adult learners.

You’ll teach adult learners across a range of levels on non-accredited Pottery courses, supporting participants to develop their skills, creativity and confidence in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

As our Lecturer, we’d like you to hold a teaching qualification, have successful teaching experience and have sound knowledge of Pottery and Ceramics. You’ll possess academic and/or vocational qualifications in the field of Pottery, with creative knowledge and craftsmanship to teach primarily hand building skills as well as some throwing.

Able to plan lessons and use a range of techniques appropriate to learners from diverse educational backgrounds, including adult learners to ensure a stimulating quality learner experience, you’ll have a thorough understanding of Health and Safety within a Pottery workshop environment.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
