Risk, Compliance & Governance Manager

Hours: 24 hours per week across three days

As our Risk, Compliance & Governance Manager, you’ll help shape and protect Riverford’s future. 

This aim of this position will be to help us build and strengthen how we manage risk, governance and business resilience across Riverford. You'll work with teams right across the business, helping us identify what could get in the way of delivering our Action Plan, whilst ensuring the future of business, making sure we have sensible controls in place, and helping us prepare for unexpected challenges.

This isn't about creating paperwork for the sake of it. It's about helping people make informed decisions, understand risks, and feel confident that we're prepared when things don't go to plan.

You'll develop and embed practical frameworks for risk management and business continuity, support governance reporting, coordinate assurance activities, and help ensure we're meeting our legal and regulatory responsibilities.

You'll also play an important role in helping us build a culture where managing risk is part of everyday decision-making rather than something that sits in a separate function.

We're looking for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, can influence at all levels of the business, and is comfortable turning complex topics into clear, practical actions.

The aim is to lay the foundations for a stronger, more resilient Riverford, leaving us with practical frameworks, clearer governance, and greater confidence in how we manage risk across the business.

Salary: Up to £100,000 per annum (pro rata) 

Location - Remote, with two days a month based at our site in Devon.

Hours - 24 hours per week across 3 days.

What You’ll Bring…

• Lead business continuity and organisational resilience, developing practical frameworks, plans and testing across Riverford.


• Develop and embed enterprise risk management, supporting Exec and SLT to identify, assess and manage key business risks.


• Lead crisis management arrangements, including incident response, escalation, exercises and learning from significant incidents.


• Oversee legal and commercial governance, working with external legal advisers and supporting teams to manage key contracts, leases and legal commitments.


• Strengthen information and data governance, supporting clear ownership, GDPR compliance and better information management across the business.

What We’re Looking For…

• Experience in risk, business continuity, resilience, audit, data compliance or a related area, with a good understanding of risk management.


• Experience developing and embedding frameworks, processes and controls across a business.


• Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and external advisers, including auditors, insurers or legal advisers, and presenting clear, meaningful information.


• A practical, curious approach — someone who likes making complex things simple, improving how things work and balancing detail with the bigger picture.


• Someone who can work independently, build strong relationships and influence people without relying on hierarchy.

It would be great if you also have experience in business continuity or crisis management, knowledge of information governance and data protection, or a relevant professional qualification.
